Legacies of the Manhattan Project: Reflections on 75 Years of a Nuclear World, a new book exploring the political, social, scientific, ethical, and health implications of the Manhattan Project, includes a chapter by Ian Graig of Global Policy Group. In “Political Scientists,” Graig discusses the implications of the “atomic scientists” movement in the postwar emergence of a politically engaged scientific community. The impetus of the book, part of the Hanford Histories series, was a conference held in Hanford, Washington, near one of the key Manhattan Project sites.

The Keizai Koho Center (Japan Institute for Social and Economic Affairs) featured an article by Ian Graig, chief executive of Global Policy Group, and Doug Bergner, senior adviser to GPG, in the February 25 issue of the KKC International Platform. The article, “Donald Trump and the Transformation of U.S. Trade Policy,” explores the evolution of U.S. trade policy toward Japan, China, and the global trading system during the Trump presidency. The article was published in English and in Japanese.

They spoke to a gathering of executives from Keidanren member companies on the topic of “The America First Agenda and the New Populism.”

On November 14, Doug Bergner and Ian Graig of Global Policy Group spoke on U.S. trade policy in the aftermath of the 2018 midterm elections to a group of business executives hosted by the Japan Machinery Center (JMC) for Trade and Investment.  The session was held at JMC's Tokyo headquarters and simulcast to JMC’s office in Osaka as well.
